    Quito-Rwy35 Approach

The now-closed ("old") Quito airport which is the subject of a mission in FSX. This is a teardrop approach with a twist - the mission apparently specifies that this be flown at an IAS of 210 knots which at the teardrop turn - flown at 13,200 feet initially - you have a true airspeed of about 265 knots. You can download the approach plate here - http://www.mediafire.com/download/iwj882oc6yscj6a/CRJ700Modified_2015-10-14.zip And you can get the graph to find your turn radius here - http://code7700.com/turn_performance.html#turnradius (the rule of thumb given in an earlier video on the teardrop procedure turn does not apply due to the high TAS). This is part of an AMAZING collection of information - and some truly interesting and entertaining stories. See the main page here - http://code7700.com/ and be sure to check out the Academics section http://code7700.com/academics.shtml (fear not - no tests will be administered). NDB Approach at Minimums

An interesting NDB approach to UKDR - made even more interesting by the poor visibility and what we believe is an anomaly in FSX (or due to conflicting navaid or magnetic declination corrections) where the beacons are not on the extended centerline of the runway. This approach uses a hold entry (for the direction we came in from) and also has a prescribed teardrop entry (see the video Teardrop Procedure Turn). You can get the approach plate here for easier viewing - http://www.mediafire.com/view/ze94qt7m4m8ys8q/UKDR-NDBRwy18.pdf Also given here are a couple of hand rules for converting metric units (this approach plate gave distances in meters and kilometers) - Meters to feet: Multiply meters by 3 then add 10% Kilometers to Nautical Miles: Take ½ the distance in kilometers then add 10 % of that value If you hand-fly NDB and VOR approaches and interesting approaches like the teardrop procedure turn, DME arc approaches and others without the use of GPS, FMC or other computerized guidance or genuinely would like to learn how this is done contact me at dantxhills@elitepremairvirtual.com

    Teardrop Procedure Turn

Approach to UMGG using a teardrop procedure turn. Download the approach plate here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/cs96inxv4zaj9wc/UMGG-ILSRwy28.pdf Rules of Thumb used in setting up the approach: 60 to 1 rule - which gives: Distance across an angle = Distance from reference point x (Angle/60) Turn radius of a standard turn = ½ TAS/100 + 0.05 Bank angle of a standard turn = 0.15 x TAS Bank angle for a given turn radius (R) = (Rstdturn / R) x BAstdturn If you hand-fly NDB and VOR approaches and interesting approaches like the teardrop procedure turn, DME arc approaches and others without the use of GPS, FMC or other computerized guidance or genuinely would like to learn how this is done contact me at dantxhills@elitepremairvirtual.com

ILS Approach - 3 Inital Approach Fixes - Part 1

Every approach starts at an initial approach fix (IAF), even if it is an informal one (like the mid-field entry to the downwind leg for a standard pattern). This is part one of two showing the use of two different IAFs for KMCE. The IAF depends on your arrival point - here we show an arrival from the south and from the north. Part 2 will show a third arrival - from the Northwest using a procedure turn to land on Rwy 30. NO GPS REQUIRED. Although the FAA is decommissioning many of the en-route VORs some of those used for approach procedures will be maintained. Navigation to the airport is by VOR.

ILS Approach - 3 Inital Approach Fixes - Part 2

The third IAF approach - KMCE from the northwest. The procedure turn is covered in detail. There is also a demonstration of the technique of landing short - useful for wet or icy runways.
